What is Yoga?

The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit language meaning “to yoke.” In this practice, we learn how to connect to our body through breath and movement. We also learn how to focus on our thoughts and feelings to achieve balance and peace within ourselves.

What Is Grace Yoga?

Grace Yoga was developed by Dr. David LifeVance in the 1970s. He wanted to bring together his knowledge of Eastern philosophy with Western medicine. His goal was to help people find balance in life.

The expression of grace is one of ease. But ease does not necessarily mean easy. Focusing on flow often allows grace to blossom while practicing yoga. That is why it is important to pay attention to the flow of breath when we come to our mats to practice any form of yoga. In our yoga/asana practice, we become aware of our breath as we inhale and exhale.

Definition – What does Grace mean?

In yoga, grace is defined as “elegance and beauty of movement.” This definition can certainly apply to poetic postures; however, it is a deeper definition that represents yoga’s philosophy. According to the yoga tradition, grace often implies devotion and surrender: devotion to the practice and surrender to God. As long as this form of grace is not attained, it is impossible for the yoga practitioner to escape the negative influences of the material world.

Grace in Yoga

Grace in yoga is not simply the beauty of movement, but also presence, surrender, and mindfulness. And the state of grace is earned through discipline. It is necessary for the yoga practitioner to be present and devoted to the tradition, to renounce the material world, and surrender to the Divine. Last but not least, the practitioner must be mindful of his or her breath, the pose, and the spiritual intention behind the practice. Yoga disciples can only transcend secular experience and achieve spiritual rebirth with an attitude of grace.

A Brief History of Grace Yoga

In the early 1900s, Dr. David LifeVance began studying yoga and meditation. He discovered that these practices were very similar to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He felt that he had found something special and decided to incorporate them into his practice.

Benefits of Grace Yoga

As a Christian, I believe that God has given us everything we need to live a happy life. However, sometimes we forget how much we have been blessed with. We often take things for granted and fail to appreciate what we have. This is why I love the Grace Yoga method. It reminds me to stop and think about my blessings every day.

How to Do Grace Yoga?

To do Grace Yoga, you must first understand what it means. According to the research, “Grace Yoga is a practice that helps us connect to our true nature, which is divine.” It teaches us to focus on our breath and to meditate on the fact that we are connected to something greater than ourselves.

Its History & Benefits

The founder of Grace Yoga, Dr. David Life, was born with cerebral palsy. He struggled with his disability throughout his life and sought out alternative methods of healing. After studying various forms of yoga, he discovered a method called Grace Yoga. This method helped him overcome his disabilities and live a full life.

Grace Yoga Tip #1: Start by sitting down and taking three deep breaths.

Next, close your eyes and take another deep breath. As you exhale, imagine that you are breathing out any tension or stress you might be holding onto. Then, as you inhale, let go of anything negative that comes up. You can also use this technique when you’re feeling anxious or stressed.

Start by taking deep breaths through your nose. Breathe in slowly and deeply until you fill up your lungs completely. Then breathe out slowly and evenly. Repeat this process several times. As you do this, imagine that you are breathing into the center of your chest. You should feel your heart beating as you inhale and exhale.

Grace Yoga Tip #4: Take another deep breath and imagine that you are breathing out any tension or stress.

Next, close your eyes and take three slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Imagine that you are filling up your body with oxygen. Feel your muscles relax as you breathe.

Grace Yoga Tip #5: Repeat this process as many times as needed.

Now, imagine that you are standing at the edge of a cliff. You are holding onto a rope that is tied to a tree branch above you. If you let go, you will fall off the cliff. However, if you hold on tightly enough, you won’t fall. This is how we feel when we practice yoga. We hold ourselves tight so that we don’t fall off the cliff.
